One student was taken to a local hospital as a precaution after two Loudoun County Public Schools buses bumped on Belmont Ridge Road Feb. 8. No other significant injuries were reported.

As the buses headed south on Belmont Ridge Road toward Route 7 and approached the traffic signal, one bus stopped and the second bumped the rear of the first.

Damages were beleived to be valued at less than $1,000 and both buses continued on their routes.

LCPS spokesman Wayde Byard said that school administrators notified parents about the incident through the Connect-ED communication system.

“We sent a message to the parents immediately through Connect-ED about the accident,” Byard said, adding that there were “no serious injuries. One student was complaining of soreness.”

Byard said school administrators reported to the scene to check on students. The buses involved are equipped with optional seatbelts. Initially no injuries were reported, but then a student who had not opted to wear a seatbelt reported the soreness that resulted in a trip to the hospital, according to a report.
